![]() Green Turtle on Black Sand Beach Green Turtles are an endangered species because of overharvesting — although they are starting to make a comeback in Hawai`i. The "green" in its name is due to the greenish coloration of its fat and flesh. After a busy day munching on seaweed, they will occasionally climb onto the beach to rest. This one chose to do so on the black sand beach at Punalu`u, pausing long enough for me to take its portrait. |
