Maha`ulepu Beach

Maha`ulepu Beach is one of the few beaches left on Kaua`i unspoiled by development. It is a favorite destination for residents and visitors alike. An offshore reef reduces ocean roughness and combined with shallow water makes this a great beach for swimming.

This is also an historic site — where King Kamehameha's warriors, those who survived a storm in the channel, landed only to face fierce defenders. Of course, Kamehameha reached an agreement with the King of Kaua`i, recognizing the sovereignty of Kamehameha, uniting the Hawai`ian Kingdom.
