Pineapple Field Pano Sepia

For many years, pineapple was king on Lana`i. In the late 1980s, pineapple was phased out because it could be raised more cheaply elsewhere. A shame really because, in my humble opinion, Lana`i pineapple was the best in all the islands. This image was stitched together from two Kodachrome slides that I took before the phase-out.

This image will be printed so that the full width is visible — with the result that the aspect ratio of the print will be shorter than normal. This will require custom framing. A normal sized print is also available — click here to view it.

Photographer's note: This is more than just a sepia-toned version of a modern photograph. I have worked diligently to remove any traces of contemporary civilization — by eliminating cars, power lines, newer buildings, etc. The goal was to craft a photo that would be very similar to one taken more than 100 years ago. I love the look and I hope you do too.
