Maui on my Mind, Part 22

Well, it was getting late in the day and some of the fairgoers were getting a bit tired and cranky. Not even a ride on the merry-go-round could please them.

The Crazy Plane was coming in for a landing — only few miles to the Kahului airport.

As the sun set, the lights came on, turning the rides into a fairy tale setting.

Of course the lack of sunlight can result in some blurry Wave Riders. So worries, they all look like they are having fun.

I had fun playing with this shot. It was so dark that you could barely see the riders — Photoshop made them disappear completely.

I was impressed by the sophisticated lighting controls — constantly changing from one pattern...

...to another. Way cool!

I wonder if the imaginative lighting makes the Zipper more fun. Probably not.

This shot was an accident, the Ferris Wheel lined up behind the Seven Seas — but the combination of lights made the scene look very patriotic.

This was the end of my day at the Maui County Fair. I hope you all enjoyed it — I sure did. And if you plan a trip to Maui in the fall, you might think about scheduling it for the time of the Fair. It is a very local Maui event — a great time for a visiting mainlander to absorb some local culture.

Life is good.

Aloha,
B. David
