Comicon, Part 2

Some costumes were much better than others. Here Batman's nemesis, the Joker, and his girlfriend provide one of the outstanding examples.

I thought this was interesting — on first noticing the poster, I guessed it was just that, a poster. On closer examination, it was really an advertisement for an upcoming convention in Pasadena. Yes, I did check the URL and it's for real. The actor, Noboru Kaneko appears to be in a Power Rangers uniform but the "Blazing Lion" seems to refer to a video game. I am so confused by all this — sorry, not my genre.

And, of course, there had to be t-shirts for some of our favorite movies. I don't remember this scene from Jurassic Park but it is still pretty cool.

Another great costume — the Black Cat. I was not familiar with the character but found an explanation in Wikipedia.

"The Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Keith Pollard, she first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 (July 1979).

Felicia Hardy is the daughter of a world-renowned cat burglar. After suffering a traumatic event as a college freshman, she trained herself in various fighting styles and acrobatics and, after deciding to follow in her father's footsteps, adopted her costumed identity as the Black Cat."

And now we know...

Oh, how cute — Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy 2 — one of my favorite characters from that movie.

There were a number of artists (both portrait and caricature) who, for a price, would sketch you in your costume. Obviously, a wonderful souvenir for folks who are really into Comicon and the comic world.

These two had striking costumes — sorry, I could not figure out who they are portraying.

Dragonball Z is an anime (Japanese animation) television series which adapts the latter half of the 509-chapter Dragonball manga (Japanese illustrated novel).

Per Wikipedia, "Dragon Ball Z follows the adventures of the protagonist Goku who, along with his companions, defends the Earth against an assortment of villains ranging from intergalactic space fighters and conquerors, unnaturally powerful androids and nearly indestructible creatures."

Another superhero that I could not identify. Great costume though.

Interesting. Oh well, sex sells, n'est-pas?

Here is what I believe to be a scout trooper from Star Wars.

And you can see where he got his helmet.

Ah, love it — a whole collection of light sabers — just what a Jedi needs.

I know that Jedi come in all shapes and sizes but these guys don't fit my preconceived notion of what they should look like. But don't tell them I said that, those light sabers will slice you in half instantly.

To be continued...

Life is good.
