Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships, Part 6 |
As I wondered around still looking for polo ponies, my eyes were drawn to this bright pink Lexus — painted and detailed to support Breast Cancer Awareness — a cause near and dear to my heart since my mom and a number of my friends have suffered from this terrible disease.
Next to the pink Lexus, I encountered this cute tiny doggie.
Additionally, a number of people had brought their dogs, dressed to the nines, just like their owners. This little guy was even wearing glasses with rose-colored lenses.
I do ponder the question of where people find these outfits for their dogs — and why.
This little doggie was my favorite — simply because he was wearing an aloha shirt that could have come from my closet.
And here we see a cowgirl going for a run with her tiny fru fru doggie.
At the other end of the spectrum was an attack dog going after his trainer. Eh, not my line of work.
In addition to the polo championships, they were sponsoring a chef's competition à la so-called reality TV.
Each team of chefs was given a set of ingredients with which to make a tasty dish. I was surprised that I was allowed to move through the tent to capture some closer shots. Unfortunately, I did not stick around to see if I could get a sample of the results of their work — I am sure they were good.
Yep, I was on to other things like a row of barber chairs. I don't know where the barbers were hiding but what a concept — go to the polo championships and get a haircut.
Nearby, tents were set up for vendors. Some were selling food, others trinkets — and in one big tent they were conducting an auction of fine art. I watched the latter for a few minutes until the bidding got out of my neighborhood (which happened very quickly, I might add).
Finally, something that was related to horses, a miniature saddle. I was really impressed by the wonderful relief carving in the leather — this would be a nice objet d'art to display in one's upscale Scottsdale home. Sorry, no price was posted.
