Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships, Part 5

As I alluded to previously, these Scottsdale folks do their tailgating in style.

Not only do they have tents, tables and chairs but also gourmet food, flowers and three-tiered serving towers.

I also took note that many of these fine folks came dressed to the nines. Of course, I was taken by the juxtaposition of the smartly attired women and their rather shabby male companions. For example, check out this woman with the nice red dress and impressive hat against her date in jeans and a wrinkled dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

At least some guys know how to dress. Or perhaps they are working for Ketel One® Vodka since the guys match each other and the gals match each other.

Perhaps it is the height of fashion to wear the shortest shirt ever — it certainly will draw eyes away from her date with the wrinkled khakis slacks.

Wow! Hats everywhere. I do not recall ever seeing a hat with a train that goes all the way to the wearer's hemline — with the natural exception of wedding trains.

And why do the women seem so well coordinated but the guy can't even find a coat and slacks that either match or coordinate. Light lilac and darkish tan? Sir, I think not.

Well, there are some folks who know how to turn a head with fashionable attire. In fact, it turns out that they were preparing for a fashion walk sponsored by some of the fashion retailers in Scottsdale. She was the first model I noticed.

Here are some of her companions — all getting lined up (more or less) for the show.

Nicely done ma'am. Pretty hat and dress — and not overdone.

A closer shot of one of the models that you saw in a previous photo — shall we say the hat is interesting — the model is quite cute.

Another closeup of a different model. I'm still not a big fan of the hat but the young lady is lovely.

I guess that hats are a statement for those attending the polo matches. I wonder what statement I was making with a baseball cap with a Kapalua (butterfly) logo? Perhaps, my statement is that I'd rather be watching polo on Maui (yes, they do have polo there).

To be continued...

Life is good.
